Linde Material Handling and Proplan are presenting their latest developments
New models of ex-protection equipment
Tightening safety requirements and directives increasingly call for explosion-proof vehicles. On the occasion of the CeMAT, the world's leading trade fair for intralogistics, Linde Material Handling (Linde MH) is now presenting a wide range of new models from the portfolio of its partner Proplan. The explosion-proof versions of the latest pallet trucks, hand pallet trucks, and pallet stackers as well as the two electric counterbalance forklift trucks are of the same high standard as their traditional prototypes when it comes to performance and design. The use of customized explosion-proof components in the new vehicles does neither affect the high level of comfort nor the ambitious ergonomic principles. Highly productive, nimble, and user-friendly are the attributes which make them the perfect choice for a wide field of applications. For customers, this is a win-win situation: they benefit from the advantages of the latest series vehicles produced by Linde and at the same time can be sure to receive vehicles which comply with the extremely high safety standards of the ex-protection experts at Proplan.
Among other innovations, the pallet truck Linde T20 EX with a load capacity of two tonne and the compact pallet stacker Linde L12 EX i (load capacity: 1.2 tonne) stand out in the portfolio of explosion-proof vehicles. The electric pallet truck can be used in confined spaces, for instance when loading or unloading lorries or for short-distance transport and manoeuvring operations. Linde L12 EX i is another vehicle of many talents: the transport of pallets, storing or evacuations as well as short- or middle-distance transports are tasks it manages easily. The pallet truck, as well as the pallet stacker, is equipped with low tillers. They allow operators to keep a safe distance. The drive and lift motors of the series vehicles have been adapted according to the directives of explosion protection. The electronics of the explosion-proof vehicles are protected from dust and dirt by a pressure-resistant housing and comply with safety directives. Linde T20 EX and Linde L12 EX i can be used in areas in which a hazardous atmosphere due to flammable gases, vapours or mist may occasionally occur (zones 1 and 2), as well as in application fields working with hydrogen. On top of that, both vehicles have been equipped with dust explosion protection for zones 21 and 22.

On the occasion of the CeMAT trade fair Linde Material Handling is presenting a wide range of new models of explosion-proofed forklift trucks: for example a pallet truck, a hand pallet truck and a pallet stackers as well as the new electric counterbalanced forklift trucks.
The hand pallet truck Linde M25 EX from the new Linde Proplan portfolio is especially noteworthy: it boasts a load capacity of 2.5 tonne and the standard version with its stainless-steel covered underbody and fork as well as electrically conducting tyres has been developed for use in zones 1 and 2 (gases and vapours) as well as in zones 21 and 22 (combustible dust). A special model is available for use in hydrogenous and acetylene-containing atmosphere (explosion group IIC). Since the colourless gas acetylene is highly explosive in air or in an oxygen-containing atmosphere, maximum safety is guaranteed by a brass-covered underbody and fork, 100 per cent electrically conducting tyres, and a stainless steel tiller.
Simultaneously to the market launch of Linde's new electric truck series Linde E20 to E35, the explosion-proof versions are introduced. Engineers at Proplan have developed a new generation of Linde's GSS Regard gas alarm system for them, which can be calibrated via a separate, easily accessible unit. This fact saves operators up to 50 per cent of the time previously required to open and close the pressure-resistant housing of the central electronics.
"We want to enthral our customers with solutions which create true added value", says Proplan's managing director Herbert Kunkel when explaining the company's philosophy. Another proof for his team's creativity is the explosion-proof radiant heating in the driver's cabin of Linde's E20 EX PL electric forklift truck. It generates a comfortable working atmosphere despite low outside temperatures. "Our explosion-proof vehicles are geared towards improving the working conditions of drivers and service engineers and thus towards increasing productivity and our customers' success."
