Linde Material Handling explains sustainability of management strategy
When Linde PureMotion was launched over a year ago, it stood above all for the activities and technical advances of Linde Material Handling in the prevention of human vibrations.
For the CeMAT 2008 trade fair, this programme has developed into a management strategy with the goal of ensuring sustainable benefit in terms of more economic efficiency, a better workplace and a protected environment. Central to this strategy are innovative technologies and products, which firstly ensure that customer requirements are met as best as possible and secondly overcome the economic and ecological challenges of the future. This will be achieved by networking expertise and through consistent cross-divisional thinking.
For Theodor Maurer, a member of the Management Board at Linde Material Handling, the company's leading position means a great responsibility to society, the environment and the customer, and it requires continuous excellence in terms of business performance. "It therefore remains our goal to develop vehicles that meet the criteria of sustainability: exemplary on a technical level, excellent in terms of efficiency and ecologically responsible."
The performance of all business units throughout the entire value-added process is measured according to three criteria: the benefit to people, the benefit to the environment and the benefit to the company's profits. An example of PureMotion-thinking are three innovative drive concepts of the future being presented at the trade fair. Linde MH intends to use these at the right time to offer the right technologies. The benefit to people lies in the decreasing emission levels as well as the very low noise exposure for drivers and their colleagues, thus increasing both concentration and efficiency. The benefit to the environment is that in some cases CO2 emissions have been completely eliminated. Furthermore, due to a greater use of renewable energies, natural resources can be preserved on a sustainable basis. The benefit to people and the environment can only have an effect if there is also an added benefit for the customer's company profits. This can become a reality faster than you might think. The more scarce and expensive traditional energy sources become, the sooner renewable energies will come into play.
Linde MH has a long tradition of providing sustainable benefit. Way back in 1959—just under 50 years ago—the company set a milestone in truck technology with the first hydrostatic truck gearbox and dual-pedal control. These were followed by significant improvements in ergonomics, energy efficiency, performance and not least environmental protection through a reduction in the use of resources as well as emission levels.
