Example: Ergonomics
The goal of the ergonomic concept of Linde Material Handling is the ideal interaction of driver and vehicle. This is achieved by the use of such innovative components as the twin pedal controls, the ergonomic steering wheel, Linde Load Control and the swivel driver’s seat.
- Linde registered its first patent for twin pedal control in 1958. Both feet remain on the pedals: they control motion forwards and backwards. It could not be simpler. A brake is unnecessary. The forklift truck stops when the driver takes his foot off the pedal.
- The ergonomic steering wheel has a handle so that the forklift truck can be completely steered with the left hand.
- The Linde Load Control with its joystick integrated in the armrest facilitates exact, easy and fatigue-free operation.
- With the swivel driver’s seat the driver also has unimpeded vision when reversing. It is ergonomically formed and has an adjustable back. This makes working as pleasant as possible.
Benefits for people
The perfect ergonomics and technology of the forklift truck permits precise working. It reduces the stress on the driver and counteracts fast fatigue. The many innovative elements provide him with more comfort and safety. For example, with the swivelling seat the blind spot is minimised when reversing. Motivation is increased. And with better concentration, safety also increases during transport.
Benefits for the environment
The practical ergonomics makes work more efficient and maximises goods handling performance. As a result, the forklift truck fleet can be reduced. Ergonomics and hydrostatic drive lead to fewer accidents. Overall, value addition is increased while resources are conserved.
Is it worth it?
Thanks to the cooperation of twin pedal control system and Linde Load Control, working speed is increased by 20 percent. In addition, the ergonomically perfect operation concept and the hydrostatic drive result in better goods handling performance and lower energy consumption.
