Baltic harbours turn to Reach Stackers from the Linde brand
Over the last few years, Baltic harbours have heavily invested in reorganising, extending and modernising the existing harbour facilities to cope with the increasing volumes that are being handled.

The contract to supply six Reach Stackers from the Linde brand for Tallinn-Muuga harbour in Estonia, Riga harbour in Latvia and Klaipeda harbour in Lithuania was awarded in 2007 to the Baltic companies of Willenbrock Fördertechnik —contractual partner of Linde Material Handling. Baltic harbours have had an important role to play since the Hanse era, providing ice-free logistical connections to and from Russia, as well as neighbouring states and Central Asia.

The outstanding quality of the trucks and the reliable service provided by Wil-lenbrock Baltic across the board was crucial in guaranteeing problem-free use of heavy-duty trucks around the clock. With a 45-tonne lifting capacity, the main duties of the Reach Stackers are to transport containers to and from liners, and to transfer containers onto lorries and trains. "The Reach Stackers have a crucial part to play in the time-critical business of container handling. That's why we went for Willenbrock Baltic and the Linde brand", said Gintaras Sa-dauskis, Transport Manager at harbour operator Klaipedos Smelte.

Customers using Reach Stackers bearing the Linde brand are assured of tech-nology that is as proven as it is popular. This includes modern engine technol-ogy that provides high torque at low speeds and works together with the hy-draulic equipment and control systems developed by Linde to produce the pre-cise oil pressure and oil quantity for the application at hand. What's more, the main components have been designed to cope with heavy loads and provide stress relief for weight-bearing surfaces.

The driver benefits from the ergonomic standards you'd expect from Linde. These include the soundproof driver cabin with its large windows, individually adjustable and comfortable suspension seat, adjustable armrest with built-in joystick for controlling the extension boom and the extension spreader, and the digital display providing a permanent overview of the most important opera-tional functions. The trucks also feature the handy container counter, which provides information on the number of lift movements and also records the weight of the container. Finally, the trucks are also suitable for use in the ex-treme winter conditions and sub-zero temperatures experienced at the Baltic harbours.
