Testing

Example: Impact Drop Test

Before production starts for each new series, Linde Material Handling conducts numerous tests. The legally required “impact drop test” has also been one of them for more than 25 years. Depending on the type of vehicle, a weight of up to 1.7 tonnes is dropped from a height of 2.5 metres onto the roof of a forklift truck. According to the law, the roof may collapse down to 250 millimetres above the steering wheel. That’s not good enough for us: In order to protect the head of the driver, according to our own, strict standards, the deformation is only allowed to be a few centimetres.

Benefits for people

A Linde forklift truck provides outstanding protection in the case of an accident. The stable cockpit resists the impact of even the heaviest loads and injuries are avoided. In all ways, the driver feels safe at work.

Benefits for the environment

High safety standards and the quality of our products help to prevent accidents. They protect peoples’ lives. In addition, they ensure careful use of our natural raw materials. The handling capacity and the service life of our vehicles increases and utilisation of spare parts decreases.

Is it worth it?

Health and wellbeing are basic requirements for good working performance. Drivers who feel safe can concentrate fully on the work to be done. They work up to 10 percent more effectively. More safety also means work that is free of disturbances and uniform for the forklift truck; another aspect that increases the resell value of our vehicles.
