The Object Warning System from Linde Material Handling
Safety in Very Narrow Aisles
Linde Material Handling very narrow aisle trucks set standards when it comes to handling performance, processing up to 40 pallets per hour at shelf heights of several meters. The trucks are able to do this by accelerating and lifting at the same time. This allows loads to be transported at great heights by moving diagonally at maximum speed.
However, this high performance level is not without risks, as the driver’s visibility can often be severely restricted in very narrow aisles. It can be easy to miss objects that “suddenly” appear in the path of travel. The Object Warning System (OWS) from Linde MH helps to increase safety by reliably detecting obstacles in very narrow aisles, and thereby preventing accidents.

Reliable Protection with Laser Scanners

For the Object Warning System, laser scanners are fitted at the front and rear of the truck to monitor the working environment in both directions. Infrared beams detect static objects from a height of 50 centimeters in a scanning range of up to eight meters. If any obstacles are detected in the warning field directly in front of the truck, the assistance system intervenes and brings it safely to a halt.

Full Control in Every Situation
If the truck stops in the aisle due to an obstacle, simply press the release button to continue driving. This allows drivers to quickly pass by the obstacle if necessary. If the truck stops outside of an aisle, there are two options to choose from: The driver can either press the release button or operate the control lever. In both cases, the truck can then continue its journey. This allows the driver to react flexibly to any situation and quickly get back to work.
Safety In Aisles and Outside
Two further warning fields ensure that the speed is reduced even before the critical range is reached. This guarantees smooth braking. The system has a total of three individually configurable warning zones. A warning tone can also be set for all fields.
The Object Warning System also supports the driver outside of rack rows. Whether moving between aisles or in outdoor spaces, as soon as the warning fields detect an obstacle in the path of travel, the system automatically reduces the speed of the truck. This effectively prevents collisions on every journey.

Integrated Safety
The Object Warning System can be combined with other Linde Material Handling safety solutions for additional safety in very narrow aisles. An ideal add-on for very narrow aisle trucks is the Aisle safety assistant (ASA). Features of this technology include automatically adapting the travel speed to uneven ground, and limiting the lift height if there are obstacles such as supporting beams in the path of travel.
