Automated Trucks T-MATIC core

High-performance automation on the loading dock

Autonomous loading directly via the ramp

The T-MATIC core automated pallet truck from Linde Material Handling is specifically designed for loading trucks at the loading dock. It picks up pallets weighing up to 1,500 kilograms from the supply zone and works independently to position them on the truck bed. Two forklift trucks can load 30 Euro pallets in about 35 minutes; only the last row needs to be loaded manually. This allows a single warehouse worker to monitor and finalize loading operations at up to five loading docks. The T-MATIC core is an especially great choice for companies working with high volumes of goods across multiple shifts while using several loading docks simultaneously, such as in logistics, food production, food retail, and the pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries. To achieve this, the Euro pallets need to be loaded as uniformly as possible, with minimal overhang. The key advantage of the T-MATIC core is that it can be used without additional infrastructure. Sensors, safety systems, and localization technology come integrated into the forklift truck, eliminating the need for structural modifications or stationary protective equipment in the warehouse.

Characteristics

Safety

The T-MATIC core offers the highest level of safety when people and manual vehicles are moving within the loading zone. All safety features are integrated directly into the forklift, eliminating the need for stationary safety installations on the dock or inside the truck. Four certified laser scanners ensure 360° monitoring of the forklift’s surroundings to reliably detect people and obstacles. When approaching walls or adjacent pallets in the truck trailer, the forklift automatically reduces its speed, allowing it to safely navigate close to existing contours, such as the trailer wall. If a person is detected between the pallets, the forklift truck stops. Following manual approval, it then reverses to leave the way clear. Integrated cliff detection protects the forklift truck and its load from drop-offs on the dock and loading edge. The sensors continuously monitor the ground and stop the forklift truck in time as soon as they detect an edge that is not bridged by a ramp. In addition, three 3D cameras detect obstacles in the forklift truck’s path. Status LEDs, acoustic alerts, and Linde BlueSpots that light up in the direction of travel provide additional safety when people and machines are working in the same area. Two emergency stop switches allow for immediate intervention at any time.

Handling

Quick startup and a high loading capacity are top features of the T-MATIC core. A 3D camera registers each pallet during pick-up and automatically detects any deviations from the ideal position—for example, if the pallet is not centered precisely or is misaligned slightly. The forklift truck also operates autonomously inside the trailer, depositing the pallets according to the specified loading pattern. By positioning them flush with the sidewall or the adjacent pallet at the front and sides, it ensures that three pallets can fit in a row. To keep the process running as it should, the Euro pallets must be undamaged, free of plastic wrap, as uniform as possible, and loaded with minimal overhang. Two T-MATIC core forklift trucks working together can load up to 30 EPAL pallets within 35 minutes; only the last row of pallets needs to be added manually. Authorized users can control the forklift trucks from any device on the network via the software’s browser-based interface. Warehouse management systems such as door controls can also be connected via the appropriate interfaces. The T-MATIC core also impresses when it comes to energy management, boasting a high-performance 12-kWh lithium-ion battery that is designed for multi-shift work and an operating time of over eight hours. When it’s time to recharge, the forklift trucks independently make their way to the charging station.

  • 3D Visual SLAM technology for quick setup without structural modifications
  • 3D pallet camera and LiDAR sensors for precision pallet detection
  • Integration with warehouse management systems and e.g. door control systems
  • 12-kWh lithium-ion battery for over eight hours of operation
