The Best of Both Worlds
The X35 electric forklift truck from Linde Material Handling in operation

Forklift trucks have to work under extreme conditions, such as constant lifting and lowering, transporting goods over uneven surfaces, dirt and dust, and temperature fluctuations. Due to their durability and performance, it was only ever internal combustion trucks that were deemed fit for the job, as electric forklifts simply could not offer sufficient performance – until now. With its new X20 – X35 and X35 - X50 electric forklift trucks, Linde has cast this limitation aside and made it possible – for the first time ever – for electric forklifts to be used in applications that used to rely upon the use of IC trucks.

The Most Powerful Electric Forklift in the World

The electric X models in the 2 to 5 ton load capacity range from Linde are just as powerful and robust as internal combustion trucks, even in the most extreme conditions. The new series even makes light work of heavy loads, long transport routes, and steep ramps. The key to this is the core element of the drive unit: the synchronous reluctance motors (SRM+) provide the electric forklifts with unique performance characteristics, which are reinforced even further by the use of permanent magnets. The use of modern electric motors in combination with powerful lithium-ion batteries eliminate the vibrations, noise, and emissions typical of IC trucks, making the X models a more environmentally friendly, comfortable, and quiet alternative.

Even the bodywork and the chassis are built to withstand the most extreme conditions, ensuring the trucks can be used on uneven surfaces. This is made possible by the long wheelbase and the large tires together with the vibration-free drive axle based on an elastomer ring bearing. This ensures the trucks are impermeable to dust and dirt. All power units are hermetically sealed and can be cleaned using high-pressure equipment.

Safety in Every Detail

The new X20 – X35 and X35 – X50 electric forklift trucks are among the safest trucks in their class. To achieve this, they feature numerous passive elements and active safety options. In terms of design, the low center of gravity, together with the high steering axle and overhead tilt cylinders, provide good stability when cornering and ensure safe load handling at height. Linde Curve Assist, fitted as standard, reduces the speed according to the steering angle. Linde Load Assist, which also comes as standard, limits the lift and tilt functions when the fork carriage exceeds the maximum range during load handling. Thanks to the low, large, anti-slip entry step, there is no risk of injury when climbing in and out of the truck. The automatic parking brake protects the truck against accidental rolling.

A key safety feature is the excellent visibility of the load and the surroundings, which minimizes accidents involving people and other trucks. The Linde lithium-ion systems also feature a multi-stage safety concept, which allows the forklift trucks to be used in challenging environments with high mechanical loads and extreme temperature fluctuations. Batteries and power modules are sealed against moisture in line with the IP69X standard. The durability of the trucks has also been confirmed in a series of specially designed crash tests.
